ORGANIZERS
The Foundation PAIX 21 was created in 2005 through the initiative, and under the presidency, of Roselyne Crausaz, a former councillor of state in Fribourg, Switzerland. To date the foundation has created a local clinic for several hundred people in Beruit, which was opened in September 2007. In March 2012 a health center, which serves eight different villages, was inaugurateded in the village of Mouhouna, Chad. In addition, in this same locality, a water pump, a grain mill and three Teuleuks (traditional structures for which the constructional knowledge base is quickly disappearing) were also financed by the foundation.
In Switzerland and elsewhere, the foundation organises concerts featuring the Brenz Band, its goodwill ambassador, as well as international music festivals for the disabled and the able bodied ; for example in Osterburken, Germany in 2009 and in Fribourg, Switzerland in 2011.
The objective of the Peter-Jochimsen Foundation, established in 2008, is to promote international research activities in the domaines of education, culture, energy and global warming, health and gerentology as well as in the transport sector. The Peter-Jochimsen Foundation develops locally and globally its own research projects and educational materials. Currently 33 volunteers are collaborating for a year in China on the Baumhaus Project; 6 volunteers work in schools in Peru as teaching assistants and leaders of children’ groups as part of a urban project for persons below the poverty line.
The chief executive officier of the foundation is Mrs. Wei Qian, while Professor and Doctor Peter Jochimsen is the president of the board of directors.
The Peter-Jochimsen Foundation works in close collaboration with the Baltic Sea International Campus, an international institution concerned with life-long university education as well as continuing professional development.
The Blind Stones from Stuttgart, Germany. These musicians with and without a disability perform covers drawn from the pop and rock genre. The Blind Stones band, founded 2008, is part of a music workshop offering a leisure activity for blind and visually handicapped adolescents and young adults. This music workshop is financially supported by the Anton & Petra Ehrmann foundation. As the Blind Stones musicians say: Music unites people.
The Brenz Band from Germany, is composed of 16 musicians; 9 with an intellectual impairment. The band was founded in 1977 and is led by Horst Tögel, former rector of the Ludwigsburg School for the Physically and Mentally Disabled. The Brenz Band – named “Artistes pour la Paix de l’UNESCO 2005/2006”, are also ambassadors for the Fondation Paix 21, located in Fribourg, Switzerland. This outstanding group of musicians will also join us in Peking in October 2014.
Erscht Rächt : 'We are a group of musicians, children, adolescents and adults with and without a disability.
Every week, we rehearse our programme in Appenzell, Switerzerland filled with emotions and enthusiasm in preparation for performing in concerts such as in Peking in October 2014. Peking, here we come !'
The Eben-Hézer Band from Lausanne, Switzerland, was founded by two group leaders from the Eben Hézer Foundation Leisure Centre. The band is composed of 9 musicians: a singer, a drummer, 2 percussionists, a bass player, a harmonica player, a saxophonist and 2 amateur guitarists. The group performs in a wide variety of settings including public institutions public concerts and festivals, at weddings, birthdays etc. Their 90 minute repertoire includes more than 25 songs ranging from original compositions and covers of Johnny Hallyday, Eddy Mitchell, Bob Marley, Tina Turner etc.
The Csalogány Choir was established in 1997 and is composed of the most talented and music-loving students from the Csalogány School for the Disabled. Since 2005, this school has offered special additional classes using the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály’s teaching methods. The choir’s repertoire consists mainly of music from famous classical composers; however they also specialise in popular Hungarian and international folk songs. The choir is recognised as being one of the most talented choirs of its type both locally and internationally. The choir has represented Hungary while performing in Austria, Germany and England. The Csalogány Choir is accompanied by a small orchestra formed by special education teachers and musicians.
Nemadomfel Band, the 'Never Give Up' Fondation and its Band were established in 2005 in the following spirit:” Everyone is rich enough to help others”. In the summer 2007, the disabled members of the Never Give Up Band had the idea of organising charity concerts to collect money for those most in need. In 2008 their first concert, titled 'The world is better because of us', had an audience of 7000 people and raised 11.5 million HUF (approx.€ 37’000 ) for the renovation and opening of a new orphanage in Transylvania. Since then, a concert has been organized every November with the objective of donating the receipts to different charities.
2 cool 4 school from Murrhardt, Germany. The name embodies the program. For if the musicians of the Bodelschwingh school orchestra could have their way they would elect to leave school and shake up the music scene all over the world !
For the past 5 years the band, which is composed of different members depending on the programme, enthusiastically perform pop- and rock music. By appearing with the Brenz Ban at small festivals or in retirement homes, the young musicians gain stage experience and now look forward to giving their all in China.
The Veeh-Harfen Group from Nüdingen, Germany, came out of a workshop conceived by Hermann Veeh, 15 years ago. The Veeh Harp is a string instrument that, with the help of a positioning device, allows people with a disability to play the instrument even if they have no previous musical training. The group consists of 7 members with and without disability and is enthusiastically looking forward with to going to Peking in 2014 for the Festival Makel Los - Sans Tache in the spirit of promoting enriching international exchanges.
The Chor Don Bleu, of the Blaumeier workshop, has had an impact well beyond Breme, Germany due to its extensive cultural activities of the past 25 years. This choir unites people with and without a physical or mental impairment, as well as those who do or do not misuse drugs; together they create a musical programme which challenges received notions about the nature of a song concert. Irrespective of the theme chosen by the Chor Don Bleu, the songs are drawn from a very wide musical selection. Whether they are classical, pop or their own original compositions, all demonstrate a touch of irony. On stage, this 25 member choir charming presents their surprising musical arrangements with a minimum of costume changes, but with a maximum of gaiety and high spirits.
